LEVEL 3 EARLY YEARS SENCO AWARD
Developed by School Improvement Liverpool and delivered by Wirral Early Years SEND Officers.
LEVEL 3 FLYER cohort 6
You must:
- be a minimum of Level 3 qualified practitioner and currently working as a SENCO, or are interested in taking on this role within their setting. If you are new to the SENCO role, you must attend ‘The role of SENCO’ training before undertaking this level 3 course.
- Complete two level 3 written assignments, carry out a planned activity with a child with SEND, complete a portfolio of evidence, carry out research and further study in between sessions.
The course involves:
- 12 full days training (plus half a day celebration event) held in term time.
- Visits to other participant’s settings to share and reflect on good practice.
- SEND statutory requirements, the role of the SENCO, and exploring processes and pathways.
- SENCO’s will be able to hear from the work of other professionals such as Educational Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Autism and Social Communication Team and many more. We invite a guest speaker to every session.
- Visit to specialist provision.
This course is fully funded by Wirral Council and will be FREE to all participants.
Only one funded place per setting can be offered. If your setting already has a Level 3 accredited Early Years SENCO then you will not be funded for a further practitioner.
All sessions are 9.30am to 4.00pm. Session 1, 6 and 12 in person, (venue to be confirmed), remainder virtual via Microsoft Teams.

Participants MUST be able to attend ALL sessions prior to booking a place on the course.
A Celebration Event is held a few months after the completion of the course for learners to share their experiences with other SENCO’s and setting managers. Certificates are awarded at this event. |
