Who should attend:-

This free online briefing session is aimed at Wirral early years Private, Voluntary, and Independent settings including both nurseries and Childminders. Designated Safeguarding Leads and Managers are encouraged to attend as well as any other practitioner nominated as a key adult for the purpose of Operation Encompass notifications.

Practitioners should have completed the Online Operation Encompass Key adult training prior to attending this session.

The session will support settings to understand the Operation Encompass process and allow them to consider their role in supporting children following a domestic abuse incident.

What will it cover:-

  • The Operation Encompass process how this works between Merseyside Police, Local Authority and Early Years Providers
  • Roles and responsibilities of the DSL and setting
  • An overview of the Working Together to Safeguard Children legislation and the Domestic Abuse Act
  • The impact of domestic abuse on children and their families
  • How to support early years children and practitioners following a notification
  • Considerations for practitioners
  • Policies and procedures for early years settings to consider
  • Frequently asked questions

Due to the sensitivity of this session delegates will need access to a device with a camera as trainers will need to see all participants throughout the training due to the sensitive nature of the content. Please be aware that this is sensitive topic relating to domestic abuse and trauma.
