This is an online course for practitioners newly appointed to the role of Senco in their setting, which will provide the knowledge and skills required to ensure they are meeting the needs of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

The course will discuss:

•         Statutory requirements relating to children with SEND in early years settings

•         The importance of high quality inclusive practice for all children

•         Identifying and responding to children with special educational needs and/or disability

•         SEND Code of Practice and the graduated approach

•         The role of the SENCO

•         Elements required to develop effective partnerships with parents and carers

•         Professionals or agencies beyond the setting

•         EHC needs assessments and plans

•         Support transitions for children with SEND

•         The Local Offer
