Aim: This course is designed for all practitioners working across the Early Years sector.
Providing a practical introduction to the Makaton language Programme.
What will it cover?
- What is Makaton?
- How we communicate together
- Introduction of Makaton Symbols
- Teaching of 30 Makaton signs that are tailored specifically to Early Years
- Ideas and resources to incorporate Makaton in the Early Years
- Practical Strategies to support the development of a child’s non-verbal communication skills incorporating a total communication approach
All participants will receive a certificate of attendance and hard copy of the signs taught
It will be delivered by Steph McGreal, licensed Makaton Tutor and Early Years Inclusive Placement Officer.
Duration: 9:30-11:30pm The session compromises of two hours of active learning
Location: Mallory Building, 2 Alice Ker Square, Grange Precinct, Birkenhead CH41 2AB.
Mallory building is situated on the right hand side next to Birkenhead Market. It is the first tall red building that is closest to Birkenhead bus station. Please come in through the revolving door and you will be directed by reception into the training room.
