Level 2 Understanding the needs of babies and young children with SEND in early years

This three full day course will:
- Upskill practitioners working with children with SEND in Early Years
- Develop appropriate knowledge, understanding and skills to support children with SEND in your setting
- Enable you to work effectively alongside your SENDCo in supporting their role.
You will need to:
- Have access to a laptop/tablet
- Attend EVERY session
- Complete gap tasks in between sessions
- Complete a level 2 assignment
- Be working directly with children to support the reflective element of the sessions
- Have the support of your manager to attend this course
What the course includes:
- Understand statutory guidance relating to SEND in Early Years
- Understand how children learn and develop in the Early Years
- Attachment and its impact on young children
- Understand the impact of transitions
- Best practice to meet individual needs of young children
- Graduated approach and the assess, plan, do, review cycle
- Specialist aids, resources and equipment for children with SEND
- Working with colleagues and other professionals and agencies
- Understand and recognise the role of parents
Please discuss the course with your manager to ensure you can be fully released on course days and that they will facilitate personal study time during the course. Attendance is mandatory for all 3 sessions in order to complete this course.
We will allocate one place per setting initially. Additional people can apply and any unfilled places will be allocated based on the size of the setting and its location in terms of area of deprivation.
