Piaget stated that ‘Every time we teach a child something, we keep him from inventing it himself. On the other hand, that which we allow him to discover for himself will remain with him visible for the rest of his life.’
Continuous provision when carefully planned will enable children to learn skills, challenge their thinking and help them to embed concepts. It should also provide the context for a variety of learning conversations between adults and children with rich opportunities for modelling and extending speech and vocabulary. It is within this environment that the children will also develop key learning attributes.
