This session is aimed at those practitioners involved in providing care for two year olds.

Child development is the core foundation of Early Years practice. Understanding how children develop and move through the stages is essential for anyone working with young children. To identify children’s individual needs, practitioners must understand how best to support each child and be aware of factors that may influence their progression.

The learning objectives for this session are as follows:

  • Explore the key developmental milestones for two yer olds, within the three prime areas.
  • Look at how to develop an effective environment for two year olds.
  • Support practitioners in establishing and continually developing effective practice and partnership with parents, including the relationship with a child’s key person.
  • Discuss the 2 year progress check.
  • Establishing a nurturing transition process.
  • Develop practitioners confidence in understanding barriers to development, how to help children and when to seek support.
